L-tryptophan is a neutral aromatic amino acid containing indole groups, which is a white or slightly yellow leaf shaped crystal or powder with a solubility of 1 14g (25 ° C), soluble in dilute acid or alkali, relatively stable in alkaline solution, decomposed in strong acids.
