Bacitracin zinc is an organic compound with the molecular formula C66H101N17O16SZn. Light yellow to brown yellow powder; Odorless, bitter taste. "It is easily soluble in pyridine, almost insoluble in water, methanol, acetone, chloroform, or ether, and is used as a feed additive."
Bacitracin zinc premix is light brown or yellow brown powder; It stinks. Bacitracin zinc is a kind of peptide antibiotic, which has bactericidal effect on Gram-positive bacteria. Its mechanism is mainly to inhibit the synthesis of bacterial wall, and it can also bind to the cell membrane of sensitive bacteria, damage the integrity of the cell membrane, and lead to the efflux of important intracellular substances. It effectively inhibits gram positive bacteria and some gram negative bacteria. Bacitracin resistance was slow, and there was no cross-resistance with other antibiotics. Promote the growth of livestock and poultry, improve feed conversion rate. Bacitracin zinc is hardly absorbed by oral administration and most of it is excreted in faeces within 2 days. Bacitracin zinc has synergistic antibacterial effect with penicillin, streptomycin, neomycin, chlortetracycline and colistin. It is incompatibility with quinoline, guitamycin, virginiamycin and enlamycin. It is used for infection of Gram-positive bacteria and penicillin-resistant Staphylococcus.
