Lycopene (Fermentation) is obtained by fermentation from Blakeslea trispora. It is red crystalline

powder, practically insoluble in water, freely soluble in chloroform. It's sensitive to air, heat and

light, especially in solution.

The lycopene crystalloid meets all requirements of the relevant monographs of JECFA, FCC and E

160a (iii), when tested according to these compendia.
